Welcome.

I’m Sarah, a NZAC registered, pluralistic counsellor, and I provide a safe, supportive space where you can be heard, understood, and guided through life’s challenges.

Originally from Rotorua and now based in the Hawke’s Bay, I am a mum of three and spent 20 years as a secondary school teacher of English, Drama, and Media Studies before moving into counselling five years ago. My work has always centred around people, stories, and connection. I’m deeply passionate about supporting people to reconnect with their strengths and find their light again, especially in seasons where it may feel dimmed. I see counselling as a collaborative journey, where we move at the client’s pace, grounded in respect, compassion, and genuine curiosity.

Outside of my work, I love film, books, travel, music, animals, and meaningful connection with others. At the heart of it all, I believe in the healing power of relationship, and it’s a privilege to walk alongside people in their journey.

I work with children (from age 7), teenagers, adults, and couples, supporting people through grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

Counselling can be a place to pause, reflect, and explore your experiences without judgement. I believe that everyone carries the wisdom and strength they need within them — my role is to walk alongside you, gently helping you uncover your own resources, build resilience, and find greater clarity and wellbeing.

My Approach

I take a pluralistic, client-led approach, drawing on a range of therapies to suit your unique needs. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to explore thinking patterns, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to process emotions, Narrative Therapy to reframe the stories we tell ourselves, attachment-informed approaches to strengthen relationships, and mindfulness techniques to build calm and presence.

I also focus on the nervous system and the Window of Tolerance, helping clients understand how their bodies respond to stress or trauma. Together, we develop strategies to regulate your nervous system, notice physical sensations, and stay grounded — so you can feel more present, resilient, and able to manage emotions effectively.

My approach is always collaborative and client-led. You are in control of the pace and focus of sessions, and together we explore what works best for you. I aim to create a warm, inclusive, and confidential space where you can feel safe to reflect, grow, and make meaningful changes.
